How to plan your perfect wedding in six months

Planning a wedding can be very stressful and even more so when you don’t have much time to plan it. Remember to practice patience and you may have to become flexible to pull this off. These are the steps we have found to be successful. When you have so little time it's hard to come up with extra money so make a game plan and stick to it.

1)  Lay out a budget and stick to it! You can’t count on extra money coming in so make a wedding budget checklist, decide what you want to spend and stick to it.

2) Start planning as soon as you’ve chosen a date, buy a wedding planner book or calendar and begin putting a timeline to the items from your budget checklist. You can then schedule vendors, florist, venues, photographers, etc. Most of these items should be scheduled as soon as possible, remember time is important.

3) Make a guest list to fit your venue, don’t invite 50 guest to a 30 seat hall. Consider having your reception & ceremony in the same location. It saves time and helps keep cost down.

4) Decide who is going to be in the wedding party, ask them so you can get the fittings out of the way, alterations can take several months and should be taken care of A.S.A.P.

5) Pick your photographer, florist, your stationary. You want to get these things scheduled; flowers can be seasonal, photographers busy and stationary takes weeks.

6) Register for wedding gifts, most national stores have wedding registry available. You can also go to the internet make yourself a wedding gift list, make a wedding blog site, website or such that can be shared with family and friends.

7) Contact caterers or discuss food options for your reception. Also decide up front what is to happen with the leftover food and beverage. Also pick out your wedding cake so you can accommodate it for the weather conditions such as hot, cold, rainy who knows?

8) Schedule your DJ, music, servers, bartender, where’s the restrooms, parking, who is going to clean up after the reception, who returns the grooms tux and shoes?

9) Prepare for the honeymoon, make arrangements for baggage, travel, hotels, vacation time, as with every aspect these need to be done as soon as possible. Now double check your checklist making sure every thing is scheduled so you can enjoy the event.

10) Now kick back have fun and make sure that there will be some sober drivers for the ride home.
